Publishing : Posting to your blog - Google Docs Help Center
Publishing from Google Docs to blogger. So, this is what you could do. The teacher has enabled the link to the blog in the teacher's account settings. Students and many others create a document and then share it with the teacher. After the document is as it needs to be, the teacher can then post to blogger from google docs automatically.
This really gives you the best of wikis, blogs, and peer review as well as the ability to look at the revisions and who has contributed. This is something that I'm going to look at doing.

Announcement
June 24, 2008
Today, Google unveiled Google Map Maker, a new product that allows users to contribute and edit Maps data for regions around the world. Google Map Maker will initially be available in 18 countries: the Caribbean (Antigua & Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Grenada, Jamaica, Netherlands Antilles, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Trinidad & Tobago), Cyprus, Iceland, Pakistan, and Vietnam.
People can use Google Map Maker to locate, draw, label and provide attributes for local map features. Tapping local knowledge has the potential to greatly improve the quality of mapping data in the developing world. The collection of data in these areas is often neglected – so Google is giving people with local knowledge access to an easy-to-use tool to better catalog their area.

A VC: Am I Bored With “Web 2.0”?
Nice post. I think many of us are wanting to push past the cool and trivial and use Web 2.0 to do meaningful, authentic things (imagine how students feel.)
I think a more important question is that "Are students bored with worksheets?" Authentic and network building experiences and learning should become part of what they do. They don't want the trivial any more than we do.

This cool course is fascinating. I've been getting a lot of links titled "Thing 1" or "Thing 8" -- didn't know what it was and now I do. The 23 things is a fascinating way to teach teachers about these tools. Great resource for professional developers to look at.
Tweetboard lets you follow specific tweets with certain people. I asked yesterday how this worked and now I know -- this is fascinating.
For those of you who don't twitter but would like to follow what twitterers are saying about NECC -- this is one of the hashtags that may be used. To make this work for you, you must be following @hashtags and then use #necc in your title -- I like it sans date, but am finding some people using #necc08 and #necc2008. I'll probably use #necc to save tweetspace.

Exits: Stewart Butterfield's bizarre resignation letter to Yahoo
REsignation letter or work of prose?
Although many write off Stewart Butterfield's letter to Yahoo, as a creative person myself, I see the point of what he's saying.
Also, creative people think differently. Metaphorically. I understand what he is saying entirely. Not sure the engineers and many liked this one, but I thought it was fascinating.
"So, it occurs to me as I skim through the images in PassionQuilt08 on Flickr...what about a screensaver made of all these positive images? Wouldn't that be a conversation starter? The only problem...I'm not sure how to best go about this. Create a folder, drop the images in there, and then point your screensaver software to it? Thoughts?"
I think that the trick would be to have automatic updates and perusing the Internet, something like PhotoCafe might do that.
Just thought I'd repeat Miguel's call and also ask Miguel -- what about photo spam? Would it be better to have a moderated group so that when new photos are downloaded that someone is moderating them?Registration opens June 17; regional finals to be held in October before grand final in Mountain View on November 14
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – June 17, 2008 – Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG) announced today that registration is now open for Google Code Jam 2008. "Google Code Jam is an incredible opportunity for the most talented computer scientists in the world to come together and compete on an international stage," said Vic Gundotra, Vice President, Engineering. "Google is proud to support these coders as they take on some of the world’s most challenging programming problems, and we’re pleased to have the chance to introduce them to our research and offices around the world."
This year marks the first year with regional semifinal playoffs in over ten countries. Companies will also Enable Interoperability Between Their Instant Messaging Services
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (June 12, 2008) – Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) today announced that it has reached an agreement that gives Yahoo! the ability to use Google’s search and contextual advertising technology through its AdSense™ for Search and AdSense for Content advertising programs. Under the agreement, Yahoo! has the option to display Google ads alongside its own natural search results in the U.S. and Canada. In addition, Yahoo! can serve contextually targeted ads on its U.S. and Canadian web properties as well as on its current publisher partner sites. Yahoo will continue to operate its own search engine, web properties and advertising services.
In addition, Yahoo! and Google agreed to enable interoperability between their respective instant messaging services bringing easier and broader communication to users.
"This commercial agreement provides Yahoo! with the opportunity to deliver more relevant ads to users and provide advertisers and publishers with better advertising technology to help them succeed in their own businesses," said Eric Schmidt, Chairman and CEO of Google. "This agreement will preserve the competitive and dynamic online advertising space."
As a result of the agreement, Yahoo! will be able to complement its own advertising program with Google’s advertising technology. As a result, advertisers will be able to better reach consumers, and Yahoo! and its current publisher partners can generate more revenue. Yahoo can use Google’s advertising technology on as many or as few of its search results and content pages as it chooses.
This non-exclusive agreement allows Yahoo! to enter into similar agreements with other advertising providers. In addition, Yahoo! will maintain relationships with its own advertising customers and will continue to rely exclusively on its own advertising program outside of the U.S. and Canada. The agreement has a term of up to ten years: a 4-year initial term and two 3-year renewals at Yahoo!’s option. Financial terms between the two companies were not disclosed.
Although Google and Yahoo are not required to receive regulatory approval of the arrangement before implementing it, the companies have voluntarily agreed to delay implementation for up to three and a half months to give the U.S. Department of Justice time to review the arrangement.
