Let's look at Miguel's Idea: Positive Screensaver for Ed?

I'm fascinated by Miguel's Idea and wondering how it can best be done.

Miguel says:

"So, it occurs to me as I skim through the images in PassionQuilt08 on Flickr...what about a screensaver made of all these positive images? Wouldn't that be a conversation starter?

The only problem...I'm not sure how to best go about this. Create a folder, drop the images in there, and then point your screensaver software to it? Thoughts?"

I think that the trick would be to have automatic updates and perusing the Internet, something like PhotoCafe might do that.

Just thought I'd repeat Miguel's call and also ask Miguel -- what about photo spam? Would it be better to have a moderated group so that when new photos are downloaded that someone is moderating them?

Should we have a moderated photo group and some way to have an automated screensaver from them. Would it eat up a lot of resources?

I don't know, but I would be interested in having some up to date screensaver that is motivational on the computers of my students like this. Just thinking out loud.

Dick & Rick Hoyt - This Father Son Pair is Inspirational

This amazing story really moves me as we think about Father's Day. I'm so fortunate to have an amazing husband who is unselfish and helps his family be so much more. As I watched this other video profiling the pair and listened to the e-mail message sent to Dick Hoyt, I was moved to tears how sometimes when we have struggles and share them, we can inspire and affect people more than we know or understand.

I'm so busy right now - haven't had much time to blog, but this sort of video reminds me about what is important.

8 Irresistable Principles of Fun

I really needed to watch this video. (see the high res, flash version here - -it is also available in French and Spanish.)

If you're in the end of the year doldrums and looking ahead towards next year, this will help you get perspective. It is a must-watch and mood adjuster and helps see what is important.

I've been having fun this week in the mountains by the time this posts, I'll be driving back home. (I set these up to post before I left.)

We all need to take time to adjust our attitude, which often means we unplug, go offline, and be with our family! OK, time to go cook lunch! A hungry family is a crabby family!

I'm positive about keeping positive

From positivethoughts.com.

You are what you think. I always find it interesting that some teachers think all of their students are terrible and I get the same class and am in love with the beauty and individuality of each one.

Our thought process so much drives the teaching process. Teachers in love with teaching often spawn students in love with learning.

Of course, we all have our problems and struggles and things that are just awful (paperwork, ridiculous requirements, etc.) however, that is life. Get over it and remember that your attitude is your attitude.

No one can ruin your day unless you let them.

I'm in the mountains this week and blogged WAY ahead to keep the blog posts coming (thank you blogger for this handy new tool) and am so ready to get away and just think and be still. I may be a little slow on posting the comments, but I'll be back renewed and rejuvenated.. and more positive.

My own positive attitude slips sometimes because life and school and work and a messy house can be so frustrating!

Looking forward to time tubing, rafting, riding horses, playing tennis, fishing, and hanging out with 18 members of my immediate family! (That is insane isn't it.)

My family gives me so much of my strength. It is worth the struggle it takes to get there.

The boy who sees without eyes!

I like when his dad says, "If he can ride a bike, let him ride a bike."

I also like how the doctor and his Mom says that "there is nothing impossible for him." She has not enabled him nor allowed "the loss of his eyes to overshadow their lives."

He walks and travels by using sound. Wow! What an amazing person. So much of the attitude of people like he or John Foppe comes from parents. Pity makes victims, expectation of success makes victors.

I applaud him and his mother and know that many times these stories don't have positive stories like this. And yet, it is worth celebrating him!

She says,

"I didn't ever want him to let him see me feel sorry for him, because I didn't want him to feel sorry for himself."
With me and my own children who have learning disabilities. I will remember this woman. She has become a heroine of mine!

Believing in Yourself: I cried over the discovery of Paul Potts

This is when Paul Potts was discovered as part of Britain's Talent Search (like America's American Idol.) I have watched it twice and will watch it again.

I've never seen this but it is one of my very favorites and am adding it to my playlist of inspirational videos over at youtube.

He says that has a a problem with confidence. How many of us have this problem. How many of your students who don't "fit the part" are struggling for someone to discover their talent.

Your kids have talent. Look for it!
